Purpose

The Howard Estate Act 1978 empowers Public Trust, with the approval of the Minister to do any act or thing that is necessary, expedient, incidental or conducive to the objects for which Public Trust holds the estate. The objects include the farming improvement and development of Smedley Station and the assistance or development of agricultural research and education that may be of special, but not necessarily exclusive, benefit to farming in the Hawkes Bay.
