Lemauga Lydia Sosene is a New Zealand Labour Party politician and the MP for Māngere [23][29].
According to a single reputable secondary source, Sosene attended Papatoetoe High School from 1979 [18], and later studied at the University of Auckland from 1997 [19]. Her early career included roles as an Office Administrator at the Marriage Education Institute in Melbourne, Australia, from 1986 [4], and as a Teller and Loans Officer at United Bank in Hunters Corner, Auckland, from 1987 [7].
From 1989, according to a single secondary source, she worked in Individual Tax Special Projects at Inland Revenue in Otahuhu, Manukau [3], followed by a role as Child Support Officer at the same organisation from 1991 [1], and as Child Support Senior Advisor from 1997 [2]. She also served as a staff member out of Parliament for Maungakiekie MP Hon Vui Mark Gosche from 2000 [5], and as a Parliamentary Services Induction Advisor from 2008 [6].
Sosene has been affiliated with the New Zealand Labour Party from at least 2000 [30], serving as Policy Council Pasifika Representative from 2006 [11] and, according to a single secondary source, as Chair of the Pasifika Sector Auckland for the Labour Party from 2011 [8].
She became a member of the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board in October 2010 [17], and according to a single secondary source also held the position of Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board Member with Auckland Council from 2010 [24]. She is reported to have served as Chair of the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board from 2013 [20][27]. She also served as a Trustee of the Mangere Law Centre from 2013 [15].
Her community involvement has included serving as a Sunday School Teacher at EFKS Papatoetoe from 1984 [13] and at EFKS Grey Lynn from 1992 [12], as Chair of a Parents Group at Mataaga Aoga Amata Pre-School Grey Lynn from 2004 [10], as a Pasifika Trustee at Mt Albert Grammar School from 2007 [14], and as a Volunteer Project Manager at Lifestyle Learning Centre from 2009 [16]. She is listed as a Leadership New Zealand alumna from 2012 [28].
Sosene entered Parliament in May 2022 as a List MP, according to a single secondary source completing the balance of Louisa Wall's term [21][22]. She was subsequently confirmed as the MP for Māngere from 2023 [23][25].
